Terry Richardson

Terry Richardson  is an American fashion and portrait photographer who has shot numerous advertising campaigns like Marc Jacobs, Sisley, Tom Ford, and Yves Saint Laurent are some also he has worked for magazines such as Rolling Stone, GQ, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Vice. He was born in New York City Richardson and originally wanted to be a punk rock musician rather than a photographer, Terry’s mother gave Richardson his first snapshot camera in 1982 and he used the camera to document his life and the punk rock scene from where he was from. In 2012 he embarked on his first solo exhibition at Los Angeles’s OHWOW Gallery, the exhibition was titled “TERRYWOOD”.There are several repeating themes in Richardson’s work, notably that of putting high-profile celebrities in mundane situations and photographing them using traditionally pedestrian methods, such as the use of an instant camera and seems like just took the pictures with polaroids, before instagram was invented, which in my opinion he made the use of old camera effects popular. His work also shows ideas of sexuality, depicting full frontal nudity and both simulated and actual sexual acts. Many of Richardson’s subjects would be shot before a white background but then expanded to other backdrops. He is also well known for posing with his models*models, actors, celebrities, etc “friends”). He says that Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, Diane Arbus and Robert Frank as early influences on his artistic style.

Zara Supply Chain

Zara is known for its fast fashion, the way they have in stores right away new trends you see in the runway very similar to the high fashion ones, having 2 times a week new merchandise receiving small shipments, and they produce 10,000 new designs each year. It’s headquartered is in Galicia, Spain where the first Zara store was opened in 1975. Zara is owned by Inditex and they have an specific system of supply chain called Inditex’s Model, instead of producing in cheap production countries like China that a further away from their main stores, they produce in closer countries like Spain and Portugal, that makes their supply chain shorter. Focusing in the location of their stores, their stores are located in good streets where you may find expensive brands preferring opening new stores rather than focus in advertising, if you notice in a magazine you won’t see any ads of zara.

From Narciso Rodriguez to Phillip Lim we see this season in the runway bright colors in the runway being mixed with geometrical shapes and silhouettes. Not so complex in their fit but the color makes them contrast with the design. We see fuchia colors, electric blue, etc. which makes the designs more exating but well balances without being to flasshy with the contrasts of navy blues, blacks and greys. This trend can be worn be anyone with classic cuts and beautiful colors in the fall, bright colors are not just for summer or spring anymore!  So this season was very well balanced the bright colors with contrasts of dark colors and geometrical shapes.

Balmain

We can describe Balmain as being very glamorous. sexy couture, rock n roll, but still elegant and beutifeul details a, which it keeps its essence with Pierre Balmain believes, Celebrities until now wear Balmain from Angelina Jolie to Beyonce.

Balmain was founded by Pierre Balmain since he worked with her mother and sister, who had a fashion boutique, until 1921, he always had a love for fashion. Pierre founded Balmain at Paris on rue François in 1945, in which he was the head designer from 1945 to 1982, until his death. Balmain started to be known as “A new French style“ and  “A king of French fashion”. His clients went from Bridgette Bardot to Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Balmain started to be so popular that the collection started to be shown in America in 1951. Balmain was part of the haute couture era, he always had high standards but believed that his designs had to be easy he hated over decorated designs and focused in easy lines and details.through the years Balmain has had many different designer being:

1945–1982: Pierre Balmain
1982–1990: Erik Mortensen
1990–1992: Hervé Pierre Braillard
1993–2002: Oscar de la Renta
2002: Laurent Mercier
2003–2006: Christophe Lebourg
2006–2011: Christophe Decarnin
2011–: Olivier Rousteing

Christophe Decarnin was the head designer from 2006 to 2011 he was the one that brought that rock and roll feel with a contrast withto Balmain’s essence, he believed it was time for the brand to have that 21st Century and that was one of the reasons he became the “star designer”, fter his departure of Balmain in 2011, Balmain chose Olivier Rousteing to be the head designer.

Altough Olivier Rousteing believed in Decarnin vission he also believed that the brand should move to the fine french culture. He studied at ESMOD, the Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode considered a prestige french fashion school. He has been one of the designers since 2006 but became the head designer at 2011. He presented his first collection for Balmain during the Spring/Summer 2011 shows in Paris. Until today he still is the head designer at Balmain. Rousteing It’s getting more chic, defined and sophisticated, while keeping the sexiness and glamour, ‘It’s less rock n roll and more sexy couture’ he says.
